Abstract

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that occurs after muscle damage. It can be defined as a clinical and biochemical syndrome composed due to traumatic and non-traumatic reasons. Acute renal failure is the most common complication of rhabdomyolysis. Particularly hypovolemia and acidosis predispose to acute renal failure. In this article, we present the case of an acute renal failure developing due to rhabdomyolysis in a 62-year-old male patient whose muscle enzymes had increased after minor trauma but who continued fieldwork on a hot summer day and became dehydrated. The fact that rhabdomyolysis may develop should not be forgotten in the differential diagnosis, particularly in the elderly who are exposed to trauma.
