Abstract
The ego is the structure that regulates our relationships with the outside world. In order to have a healthy mental health in adulthood, the ego must be properly developed and matured. The ego ideal is a concept that comes from childhood, describing the form of existence that we want to have in the future. If the ego ideal does not form in a realistic way, this keeps the ego structure weak and causes the absence of identity integrity in adulthood. This kind of structure is the basis of psychopathologies.
