Entamoeba histolytica pathogenesis and molecular diagnostic methods

Abstract

Amebiasis is a protozoal disease of the intestines, caused by Entamoeba histolytica. The prevalence of E. histolytica is high in our country and in the world. E. histolytica is more common in undeveloped and developing countries. The diagnosis and treatment of this parasite is very important in preventing the spread of the disease. Similarities with Entamoeba dispar and E. histolytica cause constant misunderstanding in laboratory diagnoses. For this reason, fast and reliable laboratory diagnosis of parasites is crucial for human and animal health.
