Abstract

Fahr syndrome is a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by symmetrical, bilateral calcification of the basal ganglia, nucleus gyrus and cerebral cortex. Although it is not known exactly how these calcifications occur, it is stated that they may be related to infection, metabolic and genetic disorders. The widespread use of brain imaging has increased detection rates of these changes. However, etiology is only partially understood and treatment methods are limited. In this case report, a case with psychiatric manifestation diagnosed with radiological findings Fahr syndrome was shared.
